Our two year old daughter LOVES Angus the Tartan Goat...it's one of her
favorite CD's. It keeps her entertained which is hard to do!
My
wife and I found the stories enchanting, the reading delectable.

I bought "Angus the Talking Goat" for our grandchildren, who certainly enjoyed
it, though our twin four year old grandsons have only the vaguest idea of what
a tartan is! My wife and I found the stories enchanting, and the reading
itself delectable. Even when you discount for that great accent, the voice is
both sensitive and intelligent.
This
CD is not only entertaining but educational for teachers to use.

Angus and The Tartan Goat is a wonderful CD that I play when my classroom of
students is eating their lunch. This CD is not only entertaining but
educational for teachers to use throughout the day.
A Review from Ileach (A Scottish Newspaper)
This was a very worrying review. Worrying
because it seems that someone has, at last, found just the right intellectual
level of the reviewer. Normally the Ileach receives scholarly tomes
on the history of the Islay area, history of the language, geographical
and biographical dissertations and we try,as far as possible, to search
out persons of suitable learning to accurately review such publications. So
when we received a CD entitled ‘Angus the Tartan Goat and other Scottish
Stories’, yours truly was appointed as official reviewer. And I didn’t
have to read anything at all. The CD consists of eight Scottish stories
descriptively and beautifully written by Margo Fallis and read (unbelievably
well, in my opinion) by Gordon Nicol. The best thing about the whole CD
is that Gordon actually sounds as if he’s having a ball reading these stories.
I’m not too sure what age group these stories are aimed at, though I’d
guess they’d be fine for age 3 up to Ileach editorial staff. There is an
obvious Highland bent to all the narratives, so this may not be the ideal
Christmas present for the nephew or niece in Watford. As I mentioned
at the start of the review, this was a particularly worrying task. The
stories last between three and nine minutes, and I found myself avidly
listening to each story to find out what happened to
Angus the Tartan Goat, Harry the Highland Cow,
Torquil the Tortoise etc, etc. (No, if you want to find out, get your own
copy). On a technical note, the CD is well recorded, the diction is clear
and the backing music and sound effects used on each track are very supportive
of the story being read. If anything, the package could be improved by
including a book with stories printed out in full. While this would undoubtedly
increase the cost, it might also help kids as they get to grips with reading.
