A long-haired rebel glam-rock guitarist who played with the band Iron Virgin in Scotland ends up in Dallas and finds fulfillment when he meets a group of orphans from Uganda. (most of whose parents died from Aids) Uncannily, on the very day these orphans arrived in Dallas and changed Gordon's life, a gunman in Dunblane, Scotland shot and killed the same number of children.        www.scotchproductions.com/ironvirgin.html

Fast forward to the brink of the new millennium, New Year's eve 1999, and you find that the long hair has gone. The purple/white polka dot jump suit and the platform boots have disappeared and Gordon is in the midst of a group of the happiest, most joyous, most amazing children he has ever met. They were all orphans, (most of their parents having succumbed to AIDS.)

Gordon went there to record their infectious, spirited songs and he did this at his own expense and gladly donated his time and services to produce a cd of their songs, but he didn't realize what would happen by doing that. You see, he has been repaid a thousand times in many ways and is so thankful to these wonderful children for teaching him so much and for showing him the most beautiful souls he could only imagine. These delightful children gave him the name Uncle Kabuye.

It was truly a life-changing experience and still fills him with emotion.
How could they be so happy when they are so poor? This is a question few Americans can answer.

At Tender Talents School in Kasangati he met Karigirwa Sandra. She had witnessed her parents’ brutal killing during the Rwanda genocide and yet, “She is the most loving human being I have ever met. She has blessed and inspired me every day since she decided to “adopt” me.”

The long hair and platform boots, long gone, are traded in for a kilt and Gordon now uses his charming accent reading soothing, sensitive poems.

Recently, on his third trip to Africa to visit his “adopted daughter”, he recorded her singing with Peace African Youth Ensemble in a room measuring 12’ x 12’ In this room, there
were 15 musicians....and him!
Everyone who hears this cd can't believe that it was recorded in such a tiny room. They are all totally amazed ! The title track, "Mama Africa" could easily become Africa's anthem, it's that good.

"You are the motherland of each and everybody."
