Location Recording / Editing / Mastering CD
On Saturday May 12th 2001 I recorded Vincent Kuo, an amazing young  man of only 17 years of age playing the most wonderful classical piano pieces.
Have a listen to this piece where he was accompanied by Chui-Fun Poon on another piano. You should have seen this dynamic pair perform this piece together.
Piano Concerto No.2 in G minor, Op.22 by Saint Saens

Location Recording / Editing / Mastering CD
On September 1st 2000, I recorded Maestro Min Huifen performing an Erhu Recital accompanied by Wang Long playing the Yangqin for the Chinese Music Society of Dallas. What a wonderful concert. These ancient instruments sounded quite beautiful and the piece "Moonlight in the Second Fountain" by Hua Yanjun is an exquisitely moving piece played with such emotion as to tug at one's heartstrings. The Caruth Auditorium was filled to capacity with over one hundred people waiting outside who couldn't get in. Since the concert was so popular, and to allow those unfortunates who didn't get the chance to see her, another performance with Mastro Min Huifen was scheduled the following week.   Click here to listen to this evocative piece of Chinese music.

Voiceover / Recording / Mixing
Every year around May, I have to put on my Tartan Tammy and get into the voiceover booth to read the latest copy to promote The Texas Scottish Festival and Highland Games. I've been recording the voiceover for the tv commercial now for about the past seven years and, if you're anything like most of the people I've met here during the twenty plus years I've been in Texas, you probably have some Scotch ( aye the whisky too) in your blood. Even if you don't, it's worth taking a trip out to Arlington's Maverick stadium to enjoy all the amazing sites you'll see and hear.

Children of Uganda - Bernard sits astride a Bass harp
CHILDREN OF UGANDA

While most people spent this Y2K New Year's eve with a lot of apprehension about the effect the new millennium might have on our computer-driven world, I had the most wonderful time in Kampala, Uganda with these most beautiful, wondrous orphans. who truly touched and impacted my life. I went there to record their amazing songs so that they would have a cd to raise funds for their orphanage while on the Tour of Light 2000 - a tour of the US taking in New York, Texas, California and Arizona. Washinton, Georgia. They also performed at the White House and on The Late Show with David Letterman.

Dave Harter with Sabbatical, Inc. recently produced a very dramatic piece to introduce survivors of the Holocaust who were going to tell their story at a presentation for a school in Texas. On listening to this audio, one of my clients, a veteran in this industry, was totally floored by the chilling sound of this piece. With Linda Watkins' knife-edge delivery and a gripping, compelling orchestral sound track, this is audio at its most dramatic.

Mike Modano - Dallas Stars
Using my trusty PCM-M1 Sony miniature Dat,  I skated over to Valley Ranch Ice Rink and recorded that well-known ice-man
.... Mike Modano for a Service911.com radio commercial.produced by
Eisenberg & Associates. We spent a whopping 15 minutes recording this extremely busy celebrity sports star who couldn't have been easier to work with.

Sara Hickman, one of Texas's most respected female musicians, adorned the cover of April's "D Magazine" and she came by the studio to record a few words of wisdom for The Hall Agency. Lee Ritchey produced the :60 radio spot. Sara's a lot of fun and a really down to earth person. Even does a grrreat Scottish accent. Click on the picture to see more shots.

Namirembe Cathedral, Kampala, Uganda
Overseas Location Recording / Editing / Mastering CD
While in Kampala to record the Tour of Light, I was invited to Namirembe Cathedral and recorded their wonderful all-male choir. If you've ever heard the Vienna Boys' Choir, you'll have a good idea what this angelic-sounding choir sounds like. See if you can recognize this well-known carol sung in Lugandan. I recorded them singing Christmas carols in January using a stereo mic and the PCM-M1 portable dat. They sung in English and Lugandan. Can't wait to put together their cd in time for this Christmas. Click on the photo for more visuals.

Dave Tracy (Dave Tracy Productions) told me he was videotaping his son's former school choir and asked me if I would like to record the audio. "Sure." I said, not realising that it was a 300 voice choir with orchestra at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center. I had no rehearsal and when it was time to start recording, I didn't know if it was choir only, choir/orchestra, loud, quiet or whatever. I must have had some divine intervention to help with setting the levels of the eight microphones on my mixer because the first piece was "full-blast" orchestra and choir. My levels were pretty darn close to where I would have set them if I had known what to expect. It was really quite amazing, especially as this was for a cd and there was no "second take." This was a performance complete with audience - a one of.  One of the pieces, "Lux Aeterna" by Morten Lauridsen has to be the most beautiful choral piece I've ever heard. I feel absolutely privileged to be a part of capturing such a masterpiece.

And Now  for  Something Completetly Different

This is what happens when friends come by and visit the studio.
Renee Hauntz brought her sister Tiffany by to visit and show her all the neat things I do.
She had such a blast and recorded an impromptu "commercial" for me with an Austin Powers flavour.
