The first public airing of my kilt was on Friday February 9th at Duke and Natasha Perry's wedding. It was held in the beautiful Adolphus Hotel in downtown Dallas. Having never worn the kilt before (we Scots always refer to it in the definite article), it was rather scary at first. But everyone loved it and some even wanted their pictures taken with me. |

Videotaped the tv show with Alex Burton. It was a blast. I really enjoyed it. The most difficult thing was reading Sweet Nothings to Alex. I met a Harlequin Romance author named Leann Harris just before the show and she was quite interesting. Her daughter used to do Highland Dancing because of her asthma. |

was the beautiful setting for "Peace, Hope & Understanding" an afternoon
event to raise funds for a "Peace Garden" Sheila had asked me to help find
some musicians and Stan Richardson was there to play his beautiful Shakuhachi
flute. Benita Arterberry sang in her beautiful tones
"Lift
Every Voice"
- The Negro National Anthem at which everyone stood, and
also "Amazing Grace". There were representatives from different faiths
and churches who spoke: Islamic Caller called to Mecca; Erv Roorda-Presbyterian,
Imam Shakoor-Islamic, Benita-
Lift Every Voice, Susan Madison-Unitarian, Dr. Harbans Lal-Sikh, Peggy Williams-Christian Scientist, Stan Richardson-Shakuhachi, Walter Travis-Washington Street Presb Mission, Beth Keenan-Tibetan Buddhist, Amanpreet - Sikh, Gordon Nicol - "Judge Not", Harmonium, Benita-Amazing Grace Troy Dungan, the weatherman on Ch8, welcomed everyone and introduced the participants. The weather turned out perfect and, although there weren't many there, it was a wonderful event. Benita was so inspiring with her words and mentioned how she and I were kindred spirits. I did a pretty good job of reading my poem copies of it afterwards. The black Muslims wanted a copy to print in their newsletter. |
